I’m a sucker for fun fairs so I was excited when we arrived at the boardwalk in Santa Cruz and discovered the whole thing was covered in thrill rides, side-stall games and food booths offering the usual hots dogs and cotton candy, and the unusual (at least for me) deep fried twinkies and funnel cake. I was particularly excited because we went to Coney Island while in I was in New York but my NY film came out blank, so it was another opportunity to shoot carnival photos.

That night we stayed at the Point Montara light house hostel, which is about 30 minutes south of San Francisco. We got there early so we’d have enough time to check in, head to San Fran for dinner and be back in time for the 10pm curfew, but we got so distracted taking photos of the incredible setting and buildings that we ended up eating at a local dinner instead.

Did I mention the hostel had a private beach where we watched the most beautiful sun set?

I’ve been back for over a week and my last three rolls of film haven’t been developed yet. I drop them off at the developers on tuesday, he told me it would be ready thursday, I went to collect it but it wasn’t ready. “Tomorrow”, he said. I went back and it still wasn’t ready. “I’m sick, it should be ready on monday”. But of course it’s a holiday today, so hopefully tomorrow I’ll get my San Francisco and Red Wood photos. But, until then i’ll leave you with the only photo that turned out from my Golden Gate Bridge photos.

I’m crazy for floral! When I saw these amazing floral wedges from Dear Golden Vintage I knew my next grouping of favourite Esty items would have to be all about floral. I wish they had been my size, but alas, some other lucky vintage lover now owns them. I do a search every day now for “floral wedges” hoping something similar will come up. Also on my summer wish list, floral denim shorts, floral tote, as many floral blouses as I can get my hands on and a flower headband, which I’ll probably end up making myself.

I really like the look of mixing different floral patterns together, as I recently saw Queen Michelle do on her blog. I don’t know if I could pull off six different floral pieces all at once like she can, but I think a floral dress paired with floral socks and a head band of flowers would look ultra-cute! Also, I am working on a skirt made of two different floral fabrics right now which I’m really excited about! I have got to hurry up and finish my summer collection so I can photograph it all and put online before summer’s over!

I don’t mind modelling for my esty shop but I definitely prefer getting my friends in front of the camera instead, especially a friend with such a lovely smile! This is Sarah, we’ve been best of friends ever since we earned minimum wage together at the AMC almost 7 years ago. Sarah is the editor of Lickety Split, “a pansexual smut zine dedicated to encouraging sex-positive expression and thought”. She’s busy working on the next issue, which is launched in June, so I really appreciate her taking the time out to pose for me! Oh, and she just got engaged! Congrats Sarah and Jon!
